The island of Hawaii is a magical place with one of the world’s most active volcanoes, Kilauea. Black sand beaches from volcanic rock mixed with tiny quartz particles surround the island, and are always changing as the volcano erupts and the powerful water moves the black sand. This area and the surrounding towns is home to some of the newest land on the planet, formed by island’s volcano. I especially loved a small, peaceful town called Hilo, the most rainy town in the USA. Hilo which means navigator in Polynesian and nutrient-rich volcanic soil in Hawaiian.
